Who we are
Barefoot Therapists, Child and Family Team, is a therapist-owned and operated service which has been offering occupational therapy, speech pathology and child psychology for children and families on the Mornington Peninsula since 2013. We work closely with parents, caregivers, therapists, educators and healthcare professionals to provide practical solutions and therapeutic intervention as part of your child’s team. Based in Rosebud we can visit all areas of Mornington Peninsula.
Sarah Munn leads the team and her staff are specially selected and encouraged to work in a family centred way which puts parents at the steering wheel. As a mother of 2 children who have additional needs, Sarah understands the challenges and celebrations many of our families face. Sarah has walked barefoot in many of her families footsteps which makes Barefoot Therapists a unique service to partner with.
Barefoot Therapists, Child and Family team, employs a skilled team

She held senior clinical OT and management positions in Paediatric teams both in the UK and Australia.
Lindsey Rouette - Registered Occupational Therapist - Senior Clinician
Lindsey Rouette is a senior paediatric OT who has valuable experience working with pediatrics with challenging behaviours during her 7 years full time at Yarrabah Special Development School. Lindsey is passionate about giving back and working with local communities, including charity work overseas.
As a part of our Barefoot team, Lindsey works closely with the rest of the therapists to provide a cohesive and complimentary team service to our clients. Within this leadership role, Lindsey has been instrumental in developing and implementing many of our multi-modality groups, specialist clinics and holiday programs that we offer.
Tanya Brown - Registered Occupational Therapist - Senior Clinician
Tanya is an occupational therapist with a clinical background in special education who also specializes in pre-school and mainstream schools. Tanya is also a triathlete and a surf life saver. She brings valuable skills to the team and creates natural therapeutic relationships with children using play to help them meet their goals. Her easy style reflects her own experiences and integrates traditional OT with new research. Tanya works weekly at Woodleigh's Minimbah Junior campus and routinely at other local schools/kinders where she gets great feedback from referrers and families.
Elise Hand - Registered Occupational Therapist
Elise is an occupational therapist with a background in psychological science, early intervention, and assessment, with an interest in sensory processing, anxiety and behavioural interventions. As well as her own skill set, Elise brings with her to the team her trained therapy dog, Holly. Holly is a Maltese x Shih Tzu, who loves children and has been very successful at helping our clients with anxiety. Elise and Holly have been volunteers with the DELTA Society, providing pet therapy across hospitals, schools and various care facilities for many years. Elise works weekly at our Frankston clinic and at Langwarrin Park Primary School, as well as other local schools/kinders, from Frankston to Portsea. Where she creates great relationships with the children and has wonderful feedback from families and colleagues.
Kara Vial - Registered Speech Pathologist
Kara Vial joined the Barefoot Therapists team in August 2018. Kara is a Speech Pathologist with a background in Paediatric Private Practice. Speech Pathologists do much more than just assess and provide intervention for difficulties with speech (producing words correctly). They also support children who have language difficulties (such as following instructions, producing sentences, understanding information, applying grammatical rules), literacy difficulties, poor social skills, difficulties with eating, limited play skills and much more! Kara has a particular passion for working with children on the Autism Spectrum but has never met a child she didn’t enjoy working with!
Kara’s approach to intervention is family focused and always takes into account family goals and concerns as well as how home practice can be incorporated into the family’s daily routine. Kara has a relaxed therapy style which puts children at ease but balances this with the ability to be firm and keep children focused on tasks when needed. Kara wants children to leave her sessions feeling proud, supported and aware of their achievements. She wants parents to leave feeling confident about what they need to do at home to continue supporting their child.
Kara has received great feedback from families in her short time at Barefoot Therapists and we love having her as part of the team!
Luke Munn - Occupational Therapist Assistant
Luke has two kids, 8 and 9, both with additional needs and 3 years experience with Hands on Learning Programs in primary school. When he isn’t working as a carpenter he can be found alongside the OT’s with the horse and farm programs helping children to develop skills in horsemanship or farm work in a naturally therapeutic environment. Luke offers good value sessions as an OT assistant. To access Luke’s gentle and easy-going program children must first be assessed by an occupational therapist to develop goals for the sessions together.
Daniela Jensen - Psychologist
Daniela is a very experienced child psychologist and a wonderful asset to both our Barefoot Therapist team and also to our local community. She is a highly skilled professional and also a parent who can relate to many of our families, having walked in similar shoes with her own child with ASD.
